Cryptic crossword No 3,270

Very cleverly done. Initially quite intimidating and I did look for the ur-clue: the one that didn't reference another. And, not finding one, I started looking for likely constructions along with solutions guessable from def and enumeration. And, of course, the further I got, the more useful the cross-references became. An interesting solving exercise and it must have been a challenging grid fill and cluing experience. Due to format, no faves but that is NOT a sign of criticism. Thanks. PM
