Cryptic crossword No 3,160

It beat me good and proper, Avid! I filled the NW corner in very quickly but soon ground to a halt with around 40% of the clues complete. Some of the wordplay seemed rather convoluted, and in some of those cases it was hard to understand how the clue worked. That said, there were some very good clues in here too, my favourites being 13a, 18a, 22a, 1d, 2d and 8d.

Ooh, I love a tough puzzle, and this was *devilish*. Had to tackle it in two separate sessions; like Coot, I found a good foothold in the NW corner, but was able to claw my way clockwise through each quadrant before finally being left with just 16d & 24a, and eventually I revealed their shared letter to get myself over the line. Still had a great time flogging myself, mind! Top five would be 12a, 22a, 25a (bravo), 8d & 20d (now there's a spot!). Thanks for the workout!

That was hard, but I got there in the end with a bit of checking on the way. Unlike Panthera, I had 16d and 24a in very early, my last two were 6a and 14d. Lots of good stuff including 5d, 12a, 21a, 16d, 4d, 1d. Thank you.
