Well, I got through it. Not sure I really *got* the SI until part way through and did not recognise the phrase as thematic but that's my bad. Only 5d defeated me. Very cunning as always. 19a, 8d and 16d my podium. Thanks. PM

Thanks Henri for an extremely clever & timely crossword. I found the SI more daunting than the puzzle itself. I only revealed 15a; all else eventually fell into place. My top picks were 13a,24a,28a, 31a,& 16d. More in reply.
