Cryptic crossword No 2,845

Thanks, Avid! Favourite clue was 19a and I also really liked 6a, 7a, 10a, 11a, 16d, 18d and the surface in 21d, and 3d after a late penny drop. 12a is bold but I liked the concision. The explanation for 9d is missing and that was one I couldn't parse so it would be good to understand that. I will definitely look out for more of your puzzles.

Very much enjoyed 14a, 19a (chef's kiss) and 21d. I'm not convinced that the definition for 2d is fairly clued - there are conventions to indicate the connection, but none are being used. I also applaud 9d, though I wish there was a way to tidy up the surface clue a bit.

Thanks Avid, I really enjoyed this. 9d is a perfect proof that clues don't have to be complicated to triumph. It is my COTD, but I also have 6a, 13a and 1d on my podium. Plenty of others to like too. Spoilers...
