Thanks, Heron, that was fun! Lots of great charades in this one - your choice of words in the grid really lend themselves to nice, clean clues. I particularly liked 8a 13a 17a 24a 4d 11d 17d, and I thought 19d was especially clever.

A great crossword as always, full of good surfaces. My favs were 1a, 22a, 25a, 5d, 17d and 19d. I'm always amazed at how often Cumbria comes up in cryptic crosswords.

Thanks Heron. This is the first of your puzzles I've tried and it was most enjoyable with some great ideas. For me 11d was COTD with 7a and 3d making the podium. Spoilers...
