Cryptic crossword No 2,607

Nice one Coot - even if rumours of my incarceration are greatly exaggerated! I had to be careful with my parsing, but a very enjoyable solve. Favourites included 11a, 20a, and 27a.

Lovely stuff, Coot. I must admit, like Amoeba, I bunged in 13a/25a, and post-parsed under some duress! Very smart. 2d’s a sharp def, 18a made me smile and 15d was nicely done. Ta lots.

Thanks Coot. That certainly took more work than your recent Quick Crossword but that's no surprise. I ended up revealing 20a & 21d, an unfortunate crossing for me. I managed the rest though I needed your notes to understand 13a25a, 8d, & 15d. Plenty of great clues made this worthwhile; among my top picks were 1a, 11a, 12a, 2d, 4d, & 14d.

Sorry to be late, Coot, but I had to keep coming back to this excellent puzzle (and still ended up revealing a handful as there is some tricky stuff here... and I couldn't for the life of me parse 13a/25a). I love 1a, 26a, 27a, 4d, 6d, 7d & 22d but the real star is the terrific quality of your surfaces.
